The Overbrook Community Development Corporation is a 501(C)3 organization established in 2017 to serve the Overbrook Park business community and specifically the Haverford Avenue Business Association located on Haverford Avenue between City Avenue and Lansdowne Avenue in Overbrook Park, Philadelphia. There are 78 businesses on that stretch of Haverford Avenue of which 40 are active members of the business association.
The Overbrook CDC has raised money through grants from the federal, state and city governments as well as the publication of an ad based yearly calendar in support of the corridor.
The funds have been used to purchase cameras, benches, planters, decorative lights, banners, Big Belly Trash cans, trash receptacle covers, signage and other items to promote beautification, health, wealth and the safey of the business corridor.
The OCDC has also participated in programs to keep the corridor clean and programs to measure the air quality in the area, as well as programs to improve the environment.
The OCDC runs STEAM programs through the Overbrook Park Free Library and is actively seeking funds to build a state of the art playground in the Robert Lamberton K-8 School yard, which is located in the middle of Overbrook Park.
OCDC has partnered with the Overbrook Environmental Education Center, Wynnefield Overbrook Revitalization Corporation (WORC), United States Congressman Dwight Evans, State Senator Vincent Hughes, State Representative Morgan Cephas and Councilman Curtis Jones in order to enhance the Haverford Avenue business corridor over the years as well as the Philadelphia Commerce Department.
